Data Science Advisor - Hybrid (Finance)



The Data Science Advisor is an exciting opportunity to be part of the Enterprise Data Science team at Evernorth Health Services which is focused on applying advanced analytics and data science to healthcare's biggest challenges. Reporting to the Senior Manager, this role will involve using data science techniques that include predictive modeling, machine learning, AI, text mining, segmentation, and clustering to help in developing solutions to increase revenue, enhance membership experience and improve clinical outcomes. Utilize innovative machine learning and Artificial Intelligence (AI) methods for developing next generation of predictive models for targeted Clinical solutions. Develop supervised / unsupervised algorithms, Big Data pipelines for making business processes efficient.

In addition, this position will be providing thought leadership in advanced analytic projects and solutions. The Data Science Advisor should think strategically about the data and be willing to work in a dynamic and fast-paced environment without compromising the quality of work. They will need to champion and drive projects from inception to delivery by collaborating with senior leaders and business partners (IT, Clinical, Operations, etc.). The ideal candidate for this role will be initiative-taking, flexible, and a strong critical thinker.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

  • Lead the development and implementation of Data Science solutions leveraging predictive models, machine learning, GenAI and other emerging advanced methods while aligning with user needs, business objectives, and the overall vision.
  • Perform data mining by applying machine learning and supervised learning algorithms.
  • Support advanced analytical and data mining efforts which could include but not limited to clustering, segmentation, logistic and multivariate regression, decision/CART trees, neural networks, time-series analysis, sentiment analysis, topic modeling, and Bayesian analysis.
  • Visualize, interpret, report, and communicate data findings creatively in a various formats and audiences using Tableau and other visualization tools.
  • Present results and recommendations to non-technical business partners and key leaders to drive decision-making.
  • Think creatively and work well both as part of a team and as an individual contributor.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

  • Degree in Statistics, Applied Mathematics, Computer Science, Data Science, Econometrics, Finance, Engineering, Operations Research, Bioinformatics, Information Systems, or related quantitative disciplines, with a minimum of five years of relevant experience (Bachelor required, Master's , PhD's preferred)
  • Advanced knowledge of programming languages such as SQL, SAS/SAS EG, R, and/or Python to manage data and perform analytics is required.
  • Experience with Python ML Libraries (Scikit Learn, MLlib, TensorFlow, and PyTorch).
  • Exposure to AWS cloud services and running Apache Spark applications.
  • Familiarity with emerging LLM architectures and technologies, like GTP (Generative Pretrained Transformers), RAG (Retrieval Augmented Generation), Agentic Workflows, Vector Databases and the ability to align them with product goals.
  • Comprehension of healthcare data (e.g., ICD-10, claims) and demonstrated understanding of health care and delivery system processes.
  • Have hands-on experience developing predictive models using analytical methods such as regression, decision trees, support vector machines, Random Forests, Neural Networks.
  • Exceptional ability to communicate and present findings clearly to both technical and non-technical audiences.
  • Excellent interpersonal and collaboration skills
  • Ability to provide thought leadership across multiple disciplines and consultation on most complex analytical assignments in relevant subject matter areas.
