Shipping Supervisor (Finance)

Pay Range: Starting at $68,000 and up, based on experience

1st-Shift: Mon-Thu - 6:00am - 4:30pm

Summary: This position is responsible for the supervision and management of the Shipping department. Supervises and coordinates activities of the Shipping employees who are engaged in shipping, receiving, verifying and keeping records on incoming and outgoing shipments, and preparing items for shipment. Oversees incoming and outgoing shipping activities to ensure accuracy, completeness, and condition of shipments. Plans work schedules, assigns duties, and evaluates work for accuracy and conformance to policies. Works with management to establish and modify department operational methods and procedures.

The Impact You'll Make:

  • Manage and supervise the daily work performance of the Shipping Clerks I, II & Lead including providing leadership, direction and training in the performance of work duties, addressing disciplinary issues according to company policy and procedure, scheduling of personnel and partnering with HR to meet hiring needs
  • Manage outside trucking and carrier companies to coordinate truck shipments with Sales and Supply Chain that support customer service and manufacturing goals of the company; analyzes performance of existing shipping systems, evaluating and recommending new programs to improve distribution methods and implement cost reductions
  • Scheduling truckload and inbound carriers to minimize dock congestion and to reduce the risk of delayed or missed shipments
  • Track and coordinate shipping information including preparation of daily shipping report, check and balance processed orders and distribute and assign orders
  • Monitor all phases of production of work area; work to resolve production issues on a daily basis
  • Supervise safety of work area; ensure employees follow proper safety procedures in the completion of daily tasks including fork lift driving; conduct safety meetings on a regular basis and coordinate the safety training of employees
  • Ensure order accuracy prior to submitting to Accounting

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities Required:
  • High School Diploma or GED required; Associate's Degree or Bachelor's Degree preferred
  • 3+ years supervisory experience required, preferably in a similar manufacturing environment
  • Computer proficiency (Microsoft Office required, ERP experience preferred)
  • Proven commitment to safety and quality within the workplace
  • Previous leadership experience, including delegation, time management, coaching, and cross-training skills
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills with the ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts and draw appropriate conclusions
  • Successful experience participating in Continuous Improvement initiatives (6S, Visual Management, Gemba walks, Standard Work, etc.)
