Regional Manager, Environmental Compliance, NW Region (Finance)



Implement/ensure company compliance with federal, state and local environmental laws/regulations. Resolve compliance issues in a cost-effective manner to minimize operational, legal and fiscal impact. Develop/implement emergency planning protocols for hazardous material accidents, spills and releases. - Bachelor's Degree environmental science, engineering or related area
- 5+ years air permitting experience
- 8+ years environmental compliance experience
- Understanding of OR, WA, AK, ID environmental agencies and evolving landscape
- Advanced Microsoft Office skills
- Strong project management skills
- Ability to collaborate and achieve objectives through others
- Ability to direct peers, supervisors, hourly associates and contractors in projects to obtain/maintain environmental compliance
- Strong interpersonal and written/oral communication skills
- Strong administrative/leadership skills
- Strong initiative to accomplish tasks with minimal supervision
- Demonstrated success implementing hazardous materials and waste regulatory requirements
- Ability to comprehend complex regulations, interpret requirements and translate requirements into operational standards
- Experience meeting with regulatory agencies/inspectors

  • Lead, develop, implement and monitor compliance programs/policies
  • Maintain working knowledge of federal, state and local regulations; build/maintain positive working relationships with regulatory agencies
  • Maintain up-to-date/organized compliance records; ensure timely preparation/submittal of required reports
  • Supervise environmental personnel managing the hazardous waste program for all NW locations
  • Maintain an active awareness of new industry technologies
  • Manage division compliance with SARA / EPCRA requirements; partner with internal departments affected by environmental issues to ensure compliance
  • Develop/ensure store locations receive training on relevant environmental topics
  • Conduct systematic compliance program audits
  • Coordinate daily activities of staff, consultants and contractors
  • Respond to agency inspections and alleged compliance violations; assist with investigations/remediation
  • Evaluate current/new machinery, equipment, processes, procedures and materials to determine environmental impact
  • Oversee development, implementation and maintenance of store/facility business plans, emergency plans and Risk Management plans (RMP) that address prevention/mitigation of hazardous material accidents, spills and releases
  • Maintain environmental management information systems (EMIS)
  • Draft permit document plans to ensure permits are obtained when needed and conditions are met/reported when required
  • Report compliance efforts to company leadership; identify continuous improvement opportunities
  • Travel to evaluate compliance with environmental laws/regulations and to assist with investigations/remediation
  • Ability to work cooperatively in high paced and sometimes stressful environment
  • Ability to manage conflict in a reasonable, nonconfrontational and cooperative manner
  • Ability to act with honesty and integrity regarding customer and business information
  • Ability to follow directions and seek assistance when necessary to resolve customer and business issues
  • Provide support and assistance through direct interaction with minors, individuals with special needs, and/or older adults
