Pepsi Bottling Ventures is seeking a Field Safety Specialist I to join our team!

We make, sell, and distribute PepsiCo and more beverages. We have the exclusive rights to make, sell, and distribute directly to stores in our territory the world-renowned PepsiCo and Keurig Dr. Pepper beverages. These exclusive rights make up the vast majority of our business and cover certain counties across five states.

We also create our own beverages, producing and distributing them to our customers' warehouses nationally. And we make, sell, and distribute to our customers' warehouses a growing portfolio of beverages nationally. These beverages make up a small, but growing part of our business.

Field Safety Specialist I Role Overview

The primary focus is driving safe behaviors and regulatory compliance in PBV's distribution center environments. The incumbent will be responsible for continuously improving safety by auditing programs and implementing strategies to ensure compliance and safe behaviors.

Day-to-Day Responsibilities

  • Serve as field Regulatory technical expert for all EHS matters
  • Implement driver safety training programs to ensure compliance with regulations and best practices.
  • Conduct regular training sessions in defensive driving, remedial driver training, hazard recognition, PIT operation, remedial PIT operation, and other EHS Programs.
  • Respond to accident scenes to collect information and determine root causes and contributing factors.
  • Implement corrective actions to prevent future incidents.
  • Maintain detailed records and report findings to management and authorities as required.
  • Monitor and evaluate driver performance, identify areas for improvement, and provide coaching as necessary.
  • Implement EHS technological solutions across geographical territory
  • Collaborate with sales, manufacturing, and warehouse teams to create and update safety and compliance policies and procedures.
  • Perform regular safety audits and inspections of facilities and fleet.
  • Identify potential hazards and recommend improvements to enhance safety.

Required Qualifications
  • High school diploma or equivalent and five (5) years experience in a fleet/safety position.
  • Commercial truck and forklift driving experience preferred.
  • Safety training experience preferred.
  • Able to pass a DOT physical.
  • Pass a Motor Fleet Accident Investigation course.
  • Pass the Third-Party Commercial Driver License Tester course.
  • Have extensive knowledge of US DOTFMCSA regulations.
  • Have working knowledge of 29CFR1910 General Industry standards.
  • Be familiar with and have a working knowledge of the Root Cause Analysis process.
  • Knowledge of safety audit methodology
  • Must not have more than two suspensions or other sanctions prohibiting the individual from operating motor vehicles within the previous three years.
  • Have effective oral and written communication skills.
  • Have leadership, interpersonal, and investigative skills.
  • Be able to display professionalism, tact, and discretion.
  • Ability to develop and execute action plans.
  • Have computer skills in Microsoft Word, Excel, and Outlook
