TransCore (TRN), a subsidiary of ST Engineering, is seeking a full-time Accounting Supervisor to join our Customer Service Center team in White Marsh, Maryland.
Job Summary: The Accounting Supervisor, reporting to the Accounting Manager, is responsible for overseeing daily accounting operations and supervising staff. This role ensures accuracy and efficiency of the daily reconciliation activity, provides regular feedback and performance evaluations to staff and supports employee development through training and cross-training. The Accounting Supervisor prepares and reviews daily and monthly financial reports, manages complex reconciliations, and leads or assists with special projects as assigned. Additional responsibilities include resolving customer account issues, maintaining strong communication with internal and external stakeholders, collaborating with MDTA, and partnering with banking institutions to develop procedures and resolve discrepancies. The position also plays a key role in preparing for the annual audit and coordinating with external auditors.
Salary Range: $53,000 - 65,000/yr. based upon skills & experience.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities include but are not limited to the following:
Supervise day-to-day accounting functions, including A/R, A/P and collections
Mentor, train, and evaluate accounting staff, providing guidance and professional development
Oversee and verify daily bank deposits to ensure accuracy and completeness
Ensure proper internal controls are in place for the collection of patron payments (checks, credit card, cash, ACH), including reconciliation of CSR daily close-out reports to the system activity and all over/shorts are reported
Assist with month end closing and financial reporting, including creating and maintaining complex reconciliation spreadsheets
Ensure all account transactions and bank statement activity are reconciled and that toll revenues are reported in compliance with MDTA's financial guidelines
Approve refunds ensuring accuracy and compliance with MDTA's policies
Research and resolve account discrepancies, errors, and payment issues.
Review and approve A/P bills prior to Service Center manager's approval
Reconcile IAG Settlement report and record CC calculations for IAG CC equity report.
Monitor compliance with internal controls, accounting policies, and regulatory requirements
Serve as the primary contact for MDTA's accounting personnel
Perform other duties as directed by TransCore management
Required & Desired Experience:
Advanced skills in Microsoft Excel and Word are required.
Accounting degree or a minimum of 5 years accounting experience required.
Certified Public Accounting, preferred.
Minimum 5 years of supervisory experience required.
