Associate Editor, ThePioneerWoman.com (Creative Design)



Hearst Digital Media is seeking a sharp editor to produce and pitch SEO stories and manage social and audience development for one of its fastest-growing lifestyle sites: ThePioneerWoman.com. The ideal candidate will have top-notch writing and reporting skills, a keen eye for what will perform and experience in a fast-paced digital environment. You'll work on news, lifestyle content and manage Instagram with an added focus on meticulously optimizing stories for search.

The associate editor will report to the site's deputy editor, and s/he will also contribute to the overall editorial strategy by pitching package and feature ideas, working with freelance writers, and more. Core to this role is an understanding of and passion for the lifestyle space—food, fashion, home, holiday—and a desire to grow the site's footprint.

What you'll do:
•  Manage the ThePioneerWoman.com's social strategy, including Instagram and Apple News
•  Monitor analytics daily, weekly, and monthly to help grow traffic numbers and other key metrics
•  Collaborate with other Hearst audience development stakeholders to learn about and communicate new best practices to the team
•  Pitch and write multiple daily stories, often with a lens for Google Discover 
•  Provide monthly KPI reporting and insights 
•  Stay on top of industry trends and produce trend reports

Your qualifications:
•  2 to 3 years of digital media experience in the consumer lifestyle space
•  Excellent writing skills and a voice that aligns with The Pioneer Woman brand
•  A strong service-journalism sensibility and keen line-editing and digital packaging skills
•  Experience with and genuine passion for the growing lifestyle commerce space
•  An expert understanding of or appreciation for analytical tools that relate to this role, such as Google Analytics and Looker
•  Strong visual and photo research skills

The base salary for this role is $64,000-$67,000. The actual base pay offered is dependent upon many factors, such as: transferable skills, work experience, business needs and market demands. The base pay range is subject to change and may be modified in the future.

This position is based in the NYC office a minimum of 3 days a week. No remote option.

This is a position covered under the Writers Guild of America, East, Collective Bargaining Agreement.
