Organizational Summary:

The Department of Mechanical and Aerospace Engineering (MAE) at the University of South Florida educates approximately 1200 undergraduates and 100 graduate students from over 40 countries. The department includes 30 faculty members and two adjuncts involved in interdisciplinary research across aerospace engineering, robotics, biomedical engineering, nanotechnology, and sustainable energy. MAE offers both Mechanical and Aerospace Engineering programs at undergraduate and graduate levels, maintains strong industry connections, and is dedicated to student success. Graduates often work with leading companies like Boeing, Honeywell, Lockheed Martin, and Siemens.

Position Summary:

Coordinate, lead, and support academic activities related to the planning, recruitment, marketing, and assessment functions of the undergraduate and graduate programs offered by Mechanical Engineering. The individual will work independently and as part of a team on aspects such as program development, assessments, marketing, course scheduling and revision, inventory and space organization, and support for faculty and students in the department.Minimum Qualifications:

This position requires a Master's degree in education or a related field of study. program, or a Bachelor's degree in those same fields, with a minimum of two years of experience.

FLSB1310 Equivalency:

4 years of directly relevant experience may be substituted for bachelor's degree.
6 years of directly relevant experience may be substituted for master's degree.

Supervise: The individual in this role must oversee, train, and assess the Administration Specialists who report to them. Recruit, train, supervise, and evaluate FWSP/hourly students. Accreditation Matters: As part of the department's ABET and SACS accreditation efforts, this person conducts detailed analysis of student performance on the Fundamentals of Engineering Exam and prepares a biannual report on student outcomes. They provide recommendations to the Chairman regarding identified curricular deficiencies. They also handle tasks related to MAE's ABET and SACS accreditation, such as designing and conducting surveys, collecting, organizing, and analyzing data, preparing reports, and performing assessment activities with various groups, including employers, alumni, faculty, and the community. This includes designing and implementing alumni and employer surveys, analyzing data, and preparing related reports. Schedule Graduate Assistants: Assess the qualifications of graduate students in the TA pool and, based on input from the Graduate Director, assign them to suitable positions. Coordinate the semester course schedule for graduate, undergraduate, and distance learning courses. Faculty Recruitment: Oversee the hiring, interviewing, and credentialing of both full-time and adjunct faculty. The department employs a few adjunct faculty members to teach undergraduate and graduate courses and collaborates with practitioners in the department's capstone design courses. New Course and Program Revision Activities: Manage the process of submitting and developing new courses, programs, and program revisions. Serve as a liaison with other academic offices and departments regarding ME academic programs, representing the department on cross-functional teams. Also act as the Departmental Attendance and Leave Coordinator.

Responsible for departmental FAIR reporting and for managing the inventory and organization of space allocations within the department. Organize departmental and committee meetings, distribute minutes, and schedule and oversee the Departmental Chair's appointments. Program Marketing: Develop, implement, and promote strategies and materials to recruit and retain undergraduate and graduate students and to enhance the visibility of the MAE department. This includes preparing and distributing promotional and recruiting brochures, annual reports, departmental newsletters, and other electronic materials.
