Dispatch Supervisor (Transit) (Security)

What Will Your Job Look Like?

The Supervisor, Dispatch will be responsible for all daily activities regarding both the dispatch team and department.  This role will train all dispatch personnel on the day-to-day functions within the dispatch capacity and will the team has a firm understanding and knowledge of the route and trip operations. 

The Supervisor, Dispatch will organize and conduct activities that ensure safe, cost-effective, on-time operating performance, tracks and reports sign-in/sign-out times, assure routes are timely, and communicate service issues to the appropriate personnel. 

This position is contingent upon award of contract.

Location: Peoria, IL

What you'll do:

  • Provide daily guidance and coaching for direct reports
  • Manage all daily activities of the dispatch department
  • Manage dispatcher schedules and overtime
  • Develop utilization reports to establish cost effective routes and schedules to meet the needs of the customer and client
  • Ensure all fleet operations meet company standards and are in compliance with all governmental, regulatory and contract standards
  • Ensure appropriate staffing levels, that all daily routes are supplied with drivers 
  • Provide support and resolution for operations and transportation providers with problems or issues relating to scheduling
  • Train all new dispatchers to perform all dispatch duties
  • Report any and all issues to the applicable manager in a timely manner
  • Complete all retraining for current dispatchers on current and new policies and procedures
  • Assist operations with organizing and routing trips based on schedule and location to ensure optimal performance
  • Report and resolve all incidents pertaining to dispatcher performance
  • Monitor radio, telephones and road-calls
  • Review schedules and trip reconciliation daily to ensure trips are assigned promptly and accurately
  • Provide feedback on drivers' performance
  • Make recommendations on new dispatch hires
  • Assist drivers with questions and on-road support
  • Provide management with reports to assist with the evaluation of route and schedule effectiveness
  • Work closely with Operations Manager to track driver PTO and route bidding process
  • Other duties as assigned

What you'll need:

Experience, Education & Certifications:

  • High School Diploma or G.E.D
  • 3+ years of previous experience in customer service or dispatch operations
  • 1 of those years must be in a lead dispatch or supervisor role.
  • Must have experience in the provision of ADA-regulated paratransit service, and should be fully knowledgeable of all applicable ADA regulations.
  • Previous experience with call routing/dispatch/chat software such Ecolane.

Skills:

  • Knowledge of GPS and GIS systems preferred
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
  • Good organizational skills with attention to timeliness and details
  • Ability to work flexible hours as required
  • Must be able to demonstrate effective use of scheduling software, two-way radio communication and data analysis skills
  • Skills in the use of computers, including Microsoft Word, Excel and other Microsoft applications
  • Ability to maintain high level of confidentiality
  • Knowledge of DOT and FTA safety regulations preferred
  • Ability to communicate, teach and mentor dispatchers
  • Must be able to demonstrate conflict resolution skills
  • Quick to process information and make adjustments or recommendations
  • Regular attendance is required

Minium Salary: $55,920/annually

Maximum Salary: $69,900/annually
