Principal Quality Engineer (Finance)

Purpose:

We are seeking a Quality Engineer to join our team. This position plays a critical role in driving quality excellence in our distribution processes, supplier development, and product performance. As a Quality Engineer, you will lead a small team to conduct root cause investigations, implement corrective actions, and collaborate cross-functionally to ensure products meet or exceed customer and industry standards.

This role champions the Timken Quality Management System (TQMS) to assure plant-wide compliance to ISO-9001 and IATF-16949 standards. Finally, this position plans, schedules, and coordinates the detailed phases of major quality system projects, involving and leveraging Corporate Quality resources as necessary to address and resolve issues.

Responsibilities:

  • Lead the resolution of External and Internal issues/non-conformances, working with customers and Timken plants; participates as the champion or member in 8D or 3D preparation.

  • Facility lead/expert for quality system requirements ensuring facility compliance. Coordinates third party audits ensuring the Internal Audit schedule is up to date and that both Certified Internal Auditors are all adequately trained for their respective roles.

  • Conducts facility and department audits and identifies any areas for quality system improvements.

  • Lead a small team of auditors to drive an effective audit process including coding accuracy, audit thoroughness, and encourage a high volume/percentage of audit completion.

  • Participates in quality planning activities for product and process development per customer-specific requirements (MMOG), PFMEAs, and prepares and updates PPAP's. Review specific process defects for analysis.

  • Own and manage facility-level quality procedures, standards, and documentation, regularly updating policies to reflect changes in processes or standards and deliver training on quality-related topics to ensure organizational understanding and adherence.

  • Supports employees in the FAA/PMA work area to assure that customer-specific requirements are met including those related to but not limited to receiving, etching, inspection, certification, packaging, and shipping. Represents Timken with respect to FAA communications and requirements.

Qualifications:

Minimum

  • Bachelor's degree
  • 5 to 10 years' experience in a quality related role, preferably in manufacturing and or distribution.

Preferred

  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Industrial Management or Business.
  • Quality Systems experience (PCP, PFMEA, 8D)
  • ISO-9001/IATF-16949 Lead Auditor Certification
