Job Description
As a Designer on the Digital UX team, you'll play a crucial design role on Intuitive's hospital-facing software products. You'll work closely with our partners in the Product, Engineering, and Human Factors groups to take ideas from concept to implementation. You'll apply Intuitive's visual design system vocabulary to some of our most vital customer-facing applications to make our digital applications visually consistent, compelling, and delightful to use.

You are a flexible and dynamic professional who strives for innovative and elegant solutions in all endeavors. The ideal candidate is passionate about intentional aesthetics and the critical role design systems play in product continuity. This candidate should have experience designing end-to-end user interfaces for a wide range of products and services. You'll play a key role in providing meaningful information to hospital staff at the right place and time.

Essential Job Duties

  • Under the guidance of design team lead and design management, create high-quality digital application deliverables using Figma, Jira, and other relevant platforms, ensuring seamless implementation by engineering partners.
  • Work closely with the Design System and React Component Library teams to make optimal use of Intuitive's design vocabulary and standardized application ‘building blocks'
  • Actively participate in recurring team meetings (both in person and Zoom) to clarify requirements, design expectations, deliverable needs, and timelines.
  • Participate in frequent progress reviews, gathering feedback, and design iterations as necessary.
  • Demonstrate a growing capacity for understanding and supporting the business goals behind our work.
  • Contribute to the growth and maturity of the Intuitive UX Design System
  • Gain comprehensive clinical knowledge to understand the practical applications of our products and services in healthcare settings.
  • Provide high-level and detail-focused specifications for design deliverables as appropriate
  • Follow product and deliverable timelines working with cross-functional teams to prioritize project work accordingly. Deliver on time, every time.
Qualifications
Required Skills, Education and Training
  • Minimum two years of enterprise-level experience in digital product design (in-house, agency, or freelance)
  • A design portfolio demonstrating fluent visual design skills on complex data-driven digital products
  • Bachelor's or Master's degree in Design, User Experience, or equivalent
  • Proven record of bringing products to market that contain complex user interactions
  • Pride in craft and attention to detail are essential qualities for this role. The ideal candidate thrives on perfecting the finer points of their work.
  • Strong communication skills
  • Demonstrated knowledge of Figma, component libraries, and the implementation of design systems
  • Demonstrated proficiency in the use of team collaboration tools (e.g., Jira, Slack, Confluence)
  • Demonstrated ability or interest in developing advanced digital delivery methods; functional prototypes, React/code design deliverables, and design assets closely linked to requirements and acceptance test criteria
  • Ideally, some experience working in the medical device industry and/or healthcare
  • Demonstrated experience in React and/or design system components a big plus

Working Conditions
  • This is a hybrid "set-schedule" position requiring three days a week onsite in the Intuitive UX design studio and two days at home. Applicants should live in the Bay area or be able to relocate.
  • Occasional travel will be required.

We provide market-competitive compensation packages, inclusive of base pay, incentives, benefits, and equity. It would not be typical for someone to be hired at the top end of range for the role, as actual pay will be determined based on several factors, including experience, skills, and qualifications. The target salary ranges are listed.

Base Salary Range Region 1: $147,600 USD - $212,400 USD
Base Salary Range Region 2: $125,500 USD - $180,500 USD
