Loan Processor II (Finance)



Role:

The Loan Processor II is responsible for processing member loans, including tasks related to auto and real estate liens, lien releases, insurance documentation, and cancellations. This role provides high-level member service support regarding credit union products and services and contributes to various initiatives within the Department and Lending Division.

Location: Our headquarters are based in Syracuse, NY. We work in a Hybrid Model requiring a minimum of 5 days in office per month.

 

Essential Functions & Responsibilities:

 50%      Loan Processing & Documentation:

- Close, organize, and complete member loan files within 15 minutes per file, maintaining a 92% accuracy rate per internal loan audit.

- Process 25% of all loans booked, by volume or dollar amount.

- Handle documentation related to auto liens, real estate liens, lien releases, insurance, and cancellations.

15%       Complex Loan Handling & Discretionary Judgment:

- Process more complex loan types such as lease buyouts, credit consolidation buyouts, and loans with unique collateral or ownership structures.

- Use discretion and independent judgment to resolve challenges and meet processing deadlines.

15%       Member Service & Communication:

- Provide exceptional member service using the Empower Brand philosophy.

- Respond to member inquiries regarding loan servicing and credit union products.

- Answer inbound loan servicing calls, meeting monthly phone queue performance targets.

10%       Project Support & Cross-Departmental Collaboration:

- Participate in departmental and interdepartmental projects as assigned.

- Support ongoing process improvement and team initiatives.

5%          Knowledge Development & Compliance:

- Maintain up-to-date knowledge of procedures, policies, and regulatory requirements relevant to loan servicing.

- Complete required training and certifications as assigned.

5%          Perform all other duties as assigned.

Performance Measurements:

 See Dayforce (HRIS) Performance Management for Goals upon start in role, and annually.

 Knowledge and Skills:

Experience: 1 to 3 years of experience in loan servicing, financial operations, or a similar role.

- Experience with loan documentation, lien processing, or working within a credit union or financial institution preferred.

- Demonstrated ability to work with complex loan files or high-volume environments is a plus.

Education: A high school education or GED.

Interpersonal Skills: Work involves much personal contact with others inside and/or outside the organization for the purpose of first-level conflict resolution, building relationships, and soliciting cooperation. Discussions involve a higher degree of confidentiality and discretion, requiring diplomacy and tact in communication.

Other Skills:

- Strong attention to detail and organizational skills.

- Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal.

- Basic math proficiency and ability to pass a math skills test.

- Competency in Microsoft Office and general PC use (Windows environment).

- Knowledge of proper telephone etiquette and member service practices.

- Ability to maintain confidentiality and handle sensitive information with discretion.

- Commitment to professional growth and meeting training requirements.
