Kleinfelder is seeking an experienced and dynamic senior leader to drive growth in Seattle, WA - Construction Materials Engineering and Testing (CoMET)

Kleinfelder is poised to expand our Seattle, WA team and is actively seeking the right candidate, a seasoned seller-doer, to lead this effort. This position is primarily responsible for driving growth, oversight of well-trained inspection/testing and project management professionals, managing projects, collaborating with our professional staff, and actively working with clients to deliver complex programs/projects in the Seattle area. Primary responsibilities include driving strategic business development/marketing and growth, working with other project managers in directing our construction services professionals during execution of mid to large scale programs, and ensuring that our team has the tools, skills, opportunities, and mentorship to take us to the next level.

The successful applicant will have the ability and desire to build strong teams working collaboratively to fulfill the needs of the firm as well as provide technical support and leadership. Additionally, the successful applicant will have local knowledge of the industry and the demonstrated ability to lead teams and develop clients and successful programs.

This applicant will engage local staff to execute a Construction Services business plan, provide consistent, high quality, professional CoMET and construction support services in accordance with Kleinfelder guidance principles (mission, vision, values) and commensurate with expectations established for quality, risk management, profitability, client service, safety, and timely delivery.

In this role, the successful candidate will:

  • Provide direct technical support to the Special Inspection and Materials Testing Group.
  • Perform material acceptance reviews in confirming compliance with project specifications and other requirements
  • Manage subconsultants providing Special inspection and Materials testing services.
  • Act as a single point of contact to clients regarding the day-to-day execution of our services
  • Manage inspectors and review completed inspection reports
  • Manage projects per Kleinfelder Project Management Standards
  • Identify and track potential projects, identify / develop teaming partners for project pursuits, prepare qualification packages and proposals, develop / maintain client relations.
  • Perform budgeting, project planning, deliverables tracking, task management, and change management

The ideal candidate will have the following experience and abilities:
  • In depth experience in public works construction management
  • Oversee the construction management process through preconstruction, construction and closeout.
  • Effective relationship development and management at all levels.
  • Ability to train, coordinate and supervise subordinate employees.
  • Ability to perform business development, marketing support and leading interview teams.
  • Experience in managing budgets and schedules.
  • Professional Engineer (PE) license, Certified Construction Manager (CCM) by CMAA Certification or Project Management Professional (PMP) preferred

Minimum requirements:
  • Minimum 15 years of experience in construction management on large civil, transportation, and building projects for public agency clients.
  • Bachelor's degree in construction management, civil engineering, or another related field.
  • Washington State Professional Engineer's License in good standing.
  • Minimum of 5 years of management experience
  • Experience with business development, marketing, and leading proposal development
  • Valid US Driver's License
  • Highly developed interpersonal, analytical and communication (written and verbal oral) skills

Education:

Bachelor degree in Civil, Materials Engineering or Construction Management preferred, or equivalent industry experience. Professional Registration preferred but not required.

Benefits: Kleinfelder offers an excellent compensation and benefits package, including: medical, dental, vision, life insurance, 401(k) plan, and paid holidays. The expected salary range for the position is displayed in accordance with the Equal Pay Act. Final agreed upon compensation is based upon individual qualifications and experience. Salary range: $125,000 - $175,000 annually.
