Grocery Specialist (Transportation)
We have an exciting new opportunity within our Grocery Department in our up and coming store located in Sayville, NY! This FT Grocery Specialist will be responsible for monitoring the Grocery Department, working in tandem with the Grocery Management team to ensure that it is running efficiently and meeting customer expectations.
Responsibilities
Properly stock retail shelves with incoming productsWill monitor inventory levels, conduct counts, rotate stock, etc.Will work with the management team to place orders with suppliers/vendors based on inventory needsVerify and process deliveries to ensure that the correct items and quantities were receivedWork with the Grocery Team on promotional displays and signage for sale and seasonal itemsAssist customers in locating store items, suggest alternatives and answer produce questionsRegularly check for expired or damaged productsMaintain clean and organized shelves, backrooms and work areasOther duties and functions as assigned
Requirements
HS Diploma or equivalentMust have a minimum of 3 years of Grocery experience working in a fast paced retail storeAble to safely lift boxes that weigh in excess of 30 poundsPhysically able to engage in repetitive hand movements reaching shelves of varying heightsComfortable and able to safely stand and climb ladders in small placesMust be able to frequently move from a bent position to standing position to unpack boxesMust have exceptional customer service and communication skillsMust be detailed oriented with the ability to understand logistics and a store floorplan, plan o grams and displays

Working Conditions
Most of the time is spent moving about continuously on hard surfaces. There may be a need to frequently position oneself to examine and/or scan merchandise, including bending, climbing, crawling, handling, pulling, reaching, and stooping.May require lifting objects up to 30 pounds. May require lifting and moving heavy and/or awkward objects more than 30 pounds with assistance.Usually in a comfortable indoor environment surrounded by moving machinery and/or loud equipment that may require shouting in order to be heard. There could be exposure to temperature extremes from freezers, ovens, and/or coolers.There may be occasional exposure to cleaning agents, sharp objects/industrial equipment necessary to perform job duties and functions.
