SUMMARY OF JOB PURPOSE: 

The Maintenance Technician repairs, maintains, and performs preventive/predictive maintenance on plant equipment, utilizing strong background/training in electrical and mechanical systems.

 

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS AND MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES:

·       Confers with operators and observes, tests, and evaluates operation of machinery and equipment to diagnose cause of malfunction.

·       Repairs, replaces, adjusts, and aligns components of machinery and equipment.

·       Assemble, install, test, and maintain electrical or electronic wiring, equipment, appliances, apparatus, and fixtures using hand tools and power tools

·       Welds to repair broken metal parts, fabricate new parts, and assemble new equipment.

·       Records repairs and maintenance performed.

·       Inspecting and testing machinery and equipment

·       Figuring out the root cause of electrical malfunctions

·       Working with welding equipment

·       Crane inspection and maintenance

·       Working at heights in manlifts

·       Other duties may be assigned.

 

 

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, ABILITIES:

·       Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals. 

·       Ability to write routine reports and correspondence. 

·       Ability to speak effectively before groups of customers or employees of organization.

·       Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals. 

·       Ability to compute rate, ratio, and percent and to draw and interpret bar graphs.

·       Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out detailed but uninvolved written or oral instructions. 

·       Ability to deal with problems involving a few concrete variables in standardized situations.

 

·       Computer skills needed, using SAP to order replacement materials, use Microsoft Excel for inventory management.  Microsoft Word as needed to generate documents as needed.

 

EDUCATION / EXPERIENCE

·       High school diploma or general education degree (GED); or one to three months related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.

·       Preferred technical training

·       Electrical

·       Mechanical

·       Industrial Maintenance

 

CERTIFICATES, LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS PREFERRED:

·       Forklift certification

·       Overhead Crane

·       ISO quality policy

·       STOP Safety Program

·       Lockout / Tagout

·       Fall Protection
