North America Fund Governance, Vice President III - State Street Global Advisors (Finance)



State Street Global Advisors (SSGA) is the fourth largest asset management firm globally. Global Funds Management is responsible for all treasury, fund administration, and reporting for our registered and unregistered funds globally. This includes valuation, board liaison and reporting, financial and regulatory reporting, taxation, expense accruals, service provider oversight, new product implementations and change management. We are seeking a strategic and highly organized Vice President to lead the coordination and communication of business strategy and operations to the Boards of Directors for our U.S. registered fund complex, including mutual funds and Exchange-Traded Funds (ETFs). This role is ideal for a professional with deep expertise in the Investment Advisers Act of 1940, the Investment Company Act of 1940, and the operational and regulatory frameworks governing registered funds. The successful candidate will serve as a key liaison between executive leadership and the Boards, ensuring that complex business initiatives are clearly articulated and aligned with fiduciary expectations.

As North America Fund Governance Vice President, you will:

  • Serve as a point of contact for Board communications, ensuring timely, accurate, and transparent information flow to build credibility and foster strong, trust-based relationships with the Boards.
  • Lead the development and delivery of board materials that communicate strategic initiatives, operational updates, and regulatory developments.
  • Collaborate with senior leaders across Legal, Compliance, Product, Investment Management, Operations, Risk and third parties to synthesize and present complex information in a board-appropriate format.
  • Cultivate and sustain strong, collaborative relationships with key internal and external stakeholders
  • Coordinate the preparation and review of board meeting agendas, minutes, and follow-up items.
  • Ensure alignment of board communications with regulatory requirements and internal governance standards.
  • Support the fund lifecycle process, including new product approvals, fund reorganizations, and other board-level initiatives.
  • Monitor industry trends and regulatory developments impacting U.S. registered funds, and proactively coordinate the communication of implications to internal stakeholders and the Boards.
  • Drive continuous improvement in board reporting processes, leveraging technology and best practices to enhance efficiency and effectiveness.

These skills will help you succeed in this role:
  • Deep knowledge of U.S. registered fund structures, particularly ETFs, and the regulatory environment under the Investment Advisers Act of 1940 and the Investment Company Act of 1940.
  • Strong understanding of the role and responsibilities of fund Boards and the Investment Adviser.
  • Exceptional written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to distill complex topics into clear, concise, and actionable insights.
  • Proven ability to manage multiple priorities and stakeholders in a fast-paced, deadline-driven environment.
  • Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to build trusted relationships across all levels of the organization.
  • Experience with board governance tools and document management systems is a plus.

Education & Preferred Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree required; advanced degree preferred.
  • 10+ years of experience in asset management, legal, compliance, or fund governance roles.
  • Demonstrated experience working within or supporting registered investment advisers, including involvement in board reporting and fund governance.
  • Deep understanding of the Investment Advisers Act of 1940 and the Investment Company Act of 1940, particularly as they relate to adviser fiduciary duties.
  • Familiarity with adviser business models, including ETF sponsors, mutual fund complexes, and sub-advisory arrangements
  • Familiarity with ETF operations, fund accounting, and regulatory reporting.

Salary Range:
$130,000 - $212,500 Annual
