Associate Director Development and Business Operations-(SCHOOL OF PUBLIC HEALTH) (Finance)

We are seeking an experienced and strategic Associate Director of Development and Business Operations to join UTHealth Houston School of Public Health in Houston, Texas. The Associate Director will lead business development and operational strategy for the Center for Healthcare Data, overseeing marketing, fiscal management, and overall operations. They will also support, contract negotiations, and supervise quality review and HR activities. The ideal candidate should have experience working with researchers and academics involved evaluation studies, business development and management. Experience and strong knowledge of policies and statutes related to healthcare data and research. This is a hybrid position.

Position Summary:

Provides leadership for the center or institute business development, operations, and initiatives. Accountable for the overall planning, coordinating and directing business management and services for the center.

Position Key Accountabilities:

  • Serves as lead administrator for the business unit with overall responsibility for marketing, business development, and fiscal management.
  • Provides supervision and support for the business unit's quality review activities.
  • Monitors and supervises budgets in collaboration with other managers and administrators within the business unit.
  • Participates in grant writing efforts and heavily involved in contract negotiations.
  • Manages relationships as business unit liaison for agency and business partners. Serves as a point person to develop and deploy the business unit's programs, policies, guidelines, and activities in collaboration with various stakeholder organizations and agencies.
  • Supports strategic planning for the business unit and collaborates with the leadership and directors in planning and implementing strategic plans.
  • Manages Human Resources activities for direct reports in regard to: recruiting and selection, hiring and termination, training, professional development, mentoring, counseling, performance evaluations, and salary planning.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.

Certification/Skills:

  • Strong knowledge of state and federal-based policies and statutes pertaining to healthcare data and research preferred.
  • Experience working with researchers and academics involved evaluation studies is preferred.

Minimum Education:
  • Bachelor's Degree in Science, Business, Public Health Care Administration or a related field. Master's Degree preferred.

Minimum Experience:
  • Six (6) years of related experience required. Experience in evaluation studies or implementation science preferred.

Physical Requirements:

Exerts up to 20 pounds of force occasionally and/or up to 10 pounds frequently and/or a negligible amount constantly to move objects.

Residency Requirement:
