Director, Proposal Development (Finance)



We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Commercial Proposal Development Manager to lead our proposal efforts, driving the creation of compelling, high-quality, and winning proposals that secure new business and expand existing client relationships. This role is critical to our sales and business development success, requiring a blend of strategic thinking, exceptional writing and editing skills, project management expertise, and a deep understanding of commercial processes. The ideal candidate will be adept at translating complex technical and business solutions into clear, concise, and persuasive proposals tailored to client needs and objectives and showcasing our solutions for online information solutions, mortgage solutions, and financial marketing services.

We are seeking a candidate to work a hybrid schedule from our Clayton, MO office three days per week (Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday), with the flexibility to work remotely on Monday and Friday.

What You'll Do:

  • Lead the proposal development process: Manage all aspects of the proposal lifecycle, from pre-RFP activities to final submission, including strategy development, content creation, reviews, and production.
  • Develop winning strategies: Conduct thorough research and analysis to understand client needs, competitive landscape, and evaluation criteria. Craft compelling value propositions and win themes that resonate with decision-makers.
  • Write, edit, and proofread complex commercial proposals, including executive summaries, technical responses, pricing narratives, and other supporting documentation.
  • Manage cross-functional teams: Collaborate with subject matter experts, technical writers, graphic designers, and other stakeholders to develop high-quality, compliant, and persuasive proposals.
  • Ensure compliance: Stay up-to-date on federal and state regulations and ensure all proposals adhere to RFP requirements and guidelines.
  • Build and maintain relationships: Foster strong relationships with internal stakeholders and external partners, including commercial agencies, prime contractors, and teaming partners.
  • Identify and implement process improvements to enhance proposal efficiency, quality, and win rates.
  • Stay abreast of industry trends , competitor activities, and best practices in proposal management.
  • Work with the Proposal Development Leader to set priorities and coordinate work activities with other Sr. Proposal Development Manager.

What Experience You Need:
  • Bachelor's degree in a relevant field: Business, Communications, or a related discipline.
  • 5+ years of experience in commercial proposal development: Proven track record of managing and winning proposals, particularly in mortgage and financial marketing OR 5+ years of experience selling Equifax Commercial Solutions
  • Strategic Thinking: ability to understand business objectives, analyze market opportunities, and develop winning strategies.
  • Attention to Detail: Meticulous and highly organized.
  • Problem-Solving: Proactive and solution-oriented.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills: Superior writing, editing, and proofreading skills with an eye for detail, grammar, and persuasive language. Ability to articulate complex ideas clearly and concisely.
  • Strong project management skills: Ability to plan, organize, and execute proposal efforts within tight deadlines and competing priorities.
  • Collaborative and team-oriented approach: Ability to build and maintain strong relationships with diverse stakeholders.
  • Software Proficiency: Highly proficient in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint), Google Workspace, and proposal management software (e.g., Salesforce, Loopio, Responsive, etc.).

What Could Set You Apart:
  • APMP (Association of Proposal Management Professionals) certification (Foundation, Practitioner, or Professional).
  • Experience in the mortgage or finance industry.
