The Associate Mechanical Engineer develops new designs as a part of a group of designers and engineers in support of rotorcraft modifications and alteration activities. Performs analysis of metallic and composite components and assemblies.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

• Perform and validate structural analysis using hand calculations and FEA (NASTRAN)
• Develop new designs in support of aircraft modifications and alteration activities
• Develop release and maintain engineering models and drawings using SolidWorks
• Support Maintenance activities by amending data to address changes created by improved maintenance practices, part numbers changes, or service experience
• Coordinate design issues with internal and external customers and suppliers
• Research material and part specifications, regulatory documentation and documentations

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE

• Bachelors degree in Mechanical, Structural or Aeronautical Engineering or equivalent experience
• Knowledge of Mechanical Systems, Propulsion Systems, and/or Rotorcraft Flying Qualities is desired
• Basic understanding of FAA Certification process is desired, specifically 14 CFR Part 21, 29, and 43
• Experience using SolidWorks design software is preferred
• Strong written and verbal communication skills to be able to present ideas, concepts and proposals with a wide range of audiences at all levels, technical and non-technical, internal and external
• Proficient with Microsoft applications
• Excellent technical and analytical skills
• Strong organizational skills with attention to detail
• Ability to work independently and in a team-oriented environment
