Control Systems Engineer (Finance)

Role description:

The Resilience Water Business Line of Arcadis is searching for a candidate with an Electrical Engineering or Control Systems degree to join our world class consulting firm in Phoenix, AZ. The ideal candidate will have studied computer control systems, logic systems, and industrial controls.

Primary focus of this role will be to provide senior level process control systems programming and design in a multi-discipline team environment for the collection, treatment, and distribution of water for public use.

The ideal candidate will have a strong educational background, good oral and written communication skills, and the ability to work productively and cooperatively in a team environment.

Role accountabilities:

As an Instrumentation & Control (I&C) Systems Engineer, you will support projects and clients in the planning, design and construction of water/wastewater facilities and other industrial facilities.

The role involves providing engineering services during construction phases, encompassing activities such as reviewing equipment submittals, shop drawings, and responding to contractor RFIs (request for information).

Other responsibilities include:

  • Developing and reviewing unit process control logic in PLCs on a variety of platforms.
  • Developing and reviewing graphical HMIs, OITs, data archiving and report solutions on a variety of platforms.
  • Producing effective and accurate written documentation, reports, and technical memorandums.
  • Utilize technical experience and expertise in the execution of SCADA projects from inception to successful startup and turnover.
  • Conduct factory acceptance testing, field checkout, startup, and commissioning.
  • Completing, implementing, and directing testing and troubleshooting of process control systems.
  • Identify critical task process/mechanical and electrical disciplines concerns.
  • Mentor junior engineers and designers.
  • Prepare budgeting, planning, cost estimating, design and execution of SCADA and instrumentation controls projects and assignments.
  • Develop technical & design criteria, process and instrumentation diagrams (P&IDs), SCADA block diagrams, process control functional narratives, control schematics, panel layout diagrams, instrument selection and sizing, and interconnection diagrams.
  • Provide I&C design to support process control and plant automation.
  • Some travel may be required for project site visits, client meetings, safety audits, general planning purposes or to oversee construction activities, depending on project staffing needs.

Required Qualifications:
  • Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Control Systems Engineering or Electrical Engineering Technology.
  • Academic emphasis on computer controls, logic systems and industrial controls.
  • Proficient with Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, MS Project and Outlook).
  • Good written and oral communication skills.

Preferred Qualifications:
  • Fundamentals of Engineering (FE) / Engineer in Training (EIT) license or ability to obtain within one (1) year from date of hire.
  • Knowledge of Allen-Bradley and Modicon PLCs and their use.
  • Knowledge of HMI graphics development using Aveva System Platform, Inductive Ignition, GE iFix, or VT SCADA.
  • Knowledge of compliance reporting software using SQL, SSRS, Crystal Reports, or Dream Reports.
  • Basic working knowledge of AutoCAD, BlueBeam Revu, or other graphic drafting development software.
  • Active participation in regional and/or national professional associations.
  • Experience working for a consulting engineering firm or systems integrator.

We offer nine paid holidays and 15 days PTO that accrue per year. The salary range for this position is $80,461 - $132,761. Actual salaries will vary and are based on several factors, such as experience, education, budget, internal equity, project and location.
