Position Summary
The Plant Operator III operates the Rice University central plants/utility infrastructure, including all plant equipment, remote equipment, utility systems, and monitors the campus Building Automation Systems (BAS) safely and efficiently. The Plant Operator III responds appropriately to problems and emergency situations that occur in the plants and on campus, and is aware of activities, performance, and safety of all persons in and around the plants and tunnel system, including other Rice employees and independent contractors. This is a 12-hour night shift position from Wednesday through Sunday, from 8 pm to 8 am.
Workplace Requirements
This position is exclusively on-site, necessitating all duties to be performed in person at Rice University per the agreed-upon fixed schedule. Per Rice policy 440 , work arrangements may be subject to change.
This is a full-time position with benefits. The proposed salary is $30.34 - $38.65 per hour, commensurate based on qualifications and experience. *Non-exempt (hourly) positions under FLSA are eligible for overtime.
Minimum Requirements
This position is considered essential during a campus emergency. The incumbent in the position is expected to report to campus, provide the essential services designated, and work under the overall direction of the Emergency Management Team for the duration of a campus emergency.
