Overview

VytlOne (formerly Maxor National Pharmacy Services Corporation) is seeking a highly competent, customer service oriented, per diem (PRN) Pharmacy Technician to work in the Santa Rita Jail Pharmacy. VytlOne manages the pharmacy. No weekends or evening shifts!

Job Summary:
An integral part of the care team, the Prescription Access Liaison (PAL), will work independently in the clinic and pharmacy environment to establish strong, credible relationships with patients, clinicians, and internal pharmacy staff to help provide high level, specialized prescriptive care to patients beyond the scope of routine pharmacy practice in a timely and professional manner.

The targeted compensation for this range is 28-30/hr based on experience. National Pharmacy Certification required.

Responsibilities

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS (These duties must be performed with or without reasonable accommodation.):
1. Answer new referral intake and/or refill calls in a timely and professional manner.
2. Accurately input new referrals and update information in designated computer systems as appropriate.
3. Coordinate with referral sources to obtain all necessary information to initiate services for new patient referrals.
4. Enter new referral prescriptions into computer and have pharmacist verify accuracy of prescription entries.
5. Contact patients to discuss the scope of service for the Specialty Pharmacy and collect information necessary to establish and maintain pharmacy profiles completely and accurately.
6. Communicate to stakeholders the necessary information to obtain benefit information, authorization, reauthorization, and reimbursement by e-mailing and scanning pertinent medical information.
7. Discuss financial obligations with new patients.
8. Address insurance issues that require alternate funding. Work with clinical staff and patient assistance personnel. Register and/or open patients with manufacturer reimbursement programs, as needed.
9. Follow up on authorizations to ensure they are achieved prior to dispensing.
10. Schedule dispensing calendar for new or refill customers.
11. Set up shipping arrangements as needed.
12. Assists in co-pay collections, which require communication with the patient.
13. Review dispensing calendar and assist with the completion of all order entries and shipments each day.
14. Assist the dispensing technicians as needed regarding required refill requests that are discovered at time of dispensing.
15. Assist in ordering medications and supplies, audit receipt of goods, review invoices to ensure correctness and route to appropriate contact.
16. Gather medications and supplies, labels, and have shipments verified for correctness by the pharmacist.
17. Follow up on any shipping exceptions to ensure patient is aware of any possible delays.
18. Complete tasks in compliance with ACHC/URAC accreditation standards and policies for the Specialty Pharmacy.
19. Maintain accurate and complete patient records.
20. Participate in pharmacy orientation programs, training programs, pharmacy staff meetings, in-services, and other programs as required.
21. Participate in the Performance Improvement Process.
22. Exemplify excellence in customer and client communication and service standards.
23. Assist the dispensing technicians as needed regarding required refill requests that are discovered at time of dispensing.
24. Assist in compiling necessary reports and/or audit information.
25. Assist in maintaining cleanliness and orderliness of the pharmacy.
26. Maintains accurate and complete patient records.
27. Participate in pharmacy orientation programs, training programs, pharmacy staff meetings, in-services, and other programs as required.
28. Exemplify excellence in customer communications and service standards.
29. Promptly report allegations of impropriety to the Compliance Department.
30. Comply with VytlOne's Ethical Business Conduct policy and VytlOne's Compliance Program.
31. Remain free from exclusion under the OIG and SAMS Medicare/Medicaid lists.
32. Complete required training, as assigned, within the established timeframes.
33. Must be able to cope with the mental and emotional stress of the position.
34. Maintain regular attendance in accordance with established policies and procedures.
35. Perform other job-related duties as assigned.

Qualifications

QUALIFICATIONS

Education: High School Diploma or equivalent. National and/or State Certified Pharmacy Technician license, depending on requirements by location.

Experience: A minimum of two (2) years of Pharmacy Tech experience. A combination of prior Pharmacy Technician experience in a high volume, fast paced pharmacy required along with prior experience preferred.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
1. Must be able to comply with the clients' occupational health requirements.
2. Ability to follow established safety, infection control, environmental and isolation practices, and procedures always.
3. Excellent Interpersonal skills required to interact effectively with patients and staff. (patients, clinic staff, pharmacy staff and providers)
4. Working knowledge of computer software including but not limited to software applications, data entry, EMR documentation, and email.
5. Experience/understanding with medication prior authorization processes.
6. Specialty Pharmacy experience is a plus.
7. Customer service experience.
8. Flexible to address any pharmacy need that may arise, especially those that are unexpected or sudden.
9. Ability to prioritize and self-manage workload.
10. Ability to analyze information and identify inconsistencies.
11. Continuous problem solving and quality improvement skills.
12. Ability to operate various types of pharmacy computer software and equipment.
13. Ability to access patient/drug information systems and accurately enter data into computer
14. Excellent organizational and communication skills, both written and verbal.

WORK SCHEDULE: Varies by pharmacy. May be required to work rotating shifts, including holidays, weekends, nights, and on-call.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS
(With or without the aid of Mechanical Devices):
1. Ability to stand/walk for extended periods of time while performing pharmacy duties.
2. Ability to lift, store and carry supplies and equipment.
3. Must be able to move intermittently throughout the workday.
4. Must be able to read, write, and speak the English language in an understandable manner.
5. Must function independently, have flexibility, personal integrity, and the ability to work effectively with customers, personnel, and other agencies.
6. Must possess sight/hearing senses or use prosthetics that will enable these senses to function adequately so that the requirements of the position can be fully met.
7. May require sitting or standing for long periods. Frequent use of computer.
8. May be exposed to potentially hazardous and toxic substances.

WORKING CONDITIONS:
1. Sitting, standing, bending, lifting, and moving intermittently during working hours.
2. Works in well lighted/ventilated office areas.
3. Subject to frequent interruptions.
4. Willingness to work in other positions temporarily, when necessary.
5. Attend and participate in continuing educational programs.
6. Communicates with both external and internal customers.
7. May be exposed to potentially hazardous and toxic substances.
8. May be subject to falls, etc. throughout the workday.
9. Works harmoniously with all members of the pharmacy staff, customers, and other outside personnel on daily basis.
