General Maint Worker (Finance)



Set Pay Rate: $24.26Shift: 7:30am - 4:30pm (Monday - Friday)Job Summary:Responsible for general facility maintenance and repair work. Duties include repairing and maintaining machines, mechanical equipment, and buildgings. Responsible to perform both scheduled and unscheduled repairs. Position requires strong interpersonal skills, excellent organizational and time management skills, and compassion and respect for persons with disabilities. Essential Functions:• Maintain and repair machines, mechanical equipment, and buildings• Perform installations, general maintenance and repair to equipment and buildingsrequiring knowledge (but not proficiency) in such a wide cross-section of trades such as painting, carpentry, plumbing, masonry, electrical work, and general maintenance• Repair or replace electrical receptacles, switches, fixtures, and motors• Perform general facility repairs including but not limited to: replacing electricalreceptacles, wires, switches, fixtures and motors; hanging and repairing drywall, plastering or compounding holes and cracks and ceilings; installing, repairing or replacing sinks, and plumbing fixtures; sanding, priming, and painting structures and equipment; installing, repairing or replacing concrete structures, floors; installing and replacing damaged panels, ceiling tiles and floor tiles; hanging doors and installing locksets; replacing broken windows; performing scheduled and unscheduled maintenance; removing debris; moving furniture and equipment; and performing other general maintenance and repair.• Inspect and diagnose problems and determine appropriate corrective actions• Perform routine preventive maintenance as required• Assemble and set up furniture, machinery or equipment• Refill hand sanitizer stations and replace dispenser batteries• Ability to read and understand facility blueprints and/or technical diagrams• Perform general cleaning and upkeep of buildings and properties as required• Order parts, supplies and materials• Keep detailed records of daily work performed• Use and maintain equipment properly following all safety requirements• Attend work regularly according to assigned work schedule• Comply with uniform dress code and personal hygiene standards• Comply with all security procedures• Wear ID badge(s) at all times while performing work under this Contract• Attend and participate in in-service training, staff meetings, and other activities to facilitate professional development• Ability to operate computerized maintenance management systems (CMMS) such as Maximo• Work cooperatively with others in a manner which is positive, enthusiastic, respectful and courteous• Comply with all Agency policies and procedures and follow contract specificationsSecondary Functions:• Perform inventory control• Clean and maintain gym equipment and refill sanitizer wipes• Maintain records and provide requested reports• May be tasked to meet personnel that require escorting• Relamping - trouble shoot any problems with LED strips are used within workstations• Manage Information Board --Cleaning of wall mount decorative items, frames, bulletin boards and display cases• Recycling/Refuse Collection Points-- Moving crates, distribute crates to staff for self-moves• Deploy Carpet Fans as needed to dry wet areas• Change kitchen water filters every six months• When needed while setting up a cubicle, clean glass , dust and vacuum• Perform other duties and tasks as needed*Duties, responsibilities, and tasks may change at any time with or without noticePhysical Abilities Needed to Meet Work Demands:• Ability to sit, stand, and walk for long periods of time• Ability to go up and down stairs• Ability to get into and out of truck or bus• Ability to reach above the head, bend, kneel, stoop• Ability to lift, carry, and push up to 50 lbs. regularly and over as needed• Ability to work in dusty spaces or adverse weather conditions• Ability to see details on the floor, above the head, or on surfacesJob Competencies Needed for Success on the Job:• Ability to work with limited direct supervision• Ability to work without assistance to complete assignments• Ability to work in a constant state of alertness and with safety always in mind• Ability to follow directions and focus on tasks• Ability to report problems or relate information• Ability to understand and comply with safety procedures and environmental requirements• Ability to read, write, and speak (communicate and relate information) in English• Ability to use and care for equipment and cleaning supplies properly• Ability to notice and report changes in work space conditions• Ability to complete tasks in a timely manner with numerous interruptions• Ability to attend work regularly according to assigned schedule and company policies• Ability to work a flexible schedule as required• Ability to attend and participate in training and work related meetings• Ability to deal with others in a positive, enthusiastic, respectful, and courteous manner• Ability to comply with all building, security, and company policies and procedures• Ability to use a computer, must be able to produce and manipulate spreadsheets and reportsOther requirements:• Valid driver's license from state of residence and ability to drive• License must have been valid for at least 3 years• Acceptable driving record as determined by Agency's insurance carrier and by Chimes DC policies and procedures• Able to obtain and maintain HSPD-12 government badge• Candidates with disabilities preferredEssential Personnel:This position is designated as essential. This means that when the facility is faced with an institutional emergency, employees in this position may be required to remain at their work location or to report to work to protect, recover, and continue operations at the facility.Education:• High School diploma or equivalent preferred• Apprenticeship training in plumbing, electricial, or HVAC required• Knowledge painting and floor repair requirements and processes• Knowledge of general carpentry and repair• Knowledge of masonry and electrical work• Knowledge of proper use of hand tools and power tools• Knowledge of safety and environmental requirements associated with tasks performedExperience:• Three years‘ experience in all phases of maintenance work.What's in it for you?
