SBSC Financial Specialist- Accounts Payable (Project Management)

Essential Duties:

Financial Specialists are responsible for daily financial support within the Shared Business Services Center. Financial support includes but is not limited to payment processing, tracking payments, maintaining financial documentation, cash handling, etc. Payment processing ranges from inputting invoices and submitting requisitions into Peoplesoft, allocating expenses to the correct chartfield, processing transfers and budget revisions, processing OU Foundation transfers, scholarships, payment requests, and awards. 

Accounts Payable are focused on processing including, but not limited to:

  • Remit payment for scholarship awards by check 
  • Remit payment for Form3 and Form19 reimbursement requests
  • Manage Honorarium payment process and remit payment 
  • Work closely with Suppliers Team to onboard new suppliers with the university
  • Reissue payment via Post Payment Request Form, Stat-Cancels
  • Standard invoice payments
  • Wire transfers
  • Tuition Waivers
  • OU Foundation payment & scholarship requests

Required Education and Experience: High School Diploma or GED, AND: 

  • 18 months of experience in accounting/bookkeeping or related field

 Skills:

  • Working knowledge of financial or accounting to include analysis, auditing, and budgeting
  • Able to understand a chart of accounts and code entries to proper account
  • Detail oriented for accuracy of data and information
  • Highly organized and able to handle multiple projects and deadlines
  • Able to communicate well and build rapport quickly with students, faculty and staff
  • Able to produce reports and complete work within deadlines
  • Able to work well with interdepartmental teams and initiatives
  • Aptitude for excellent customer service

    Advertised Physical and Environmental Requirements:

    • Ability to effectively communicate verbally or in writing
    • Engage in repetitive motion
    • Use of computer and calculator
    • Ability to follow written and oral directions, hand/finger dexterity to operate computer

     Departmental Preferences:

    • University experience
    • Associate or bachelor's degree

    Supervision: No Supervisory Duties
