Principal Project Manager - Risk & Compliance (Finance)

This position can be remote but candidate must live and work in the US in Eastern or Central Time Zone only.

Responsible for overseeing the successful planning, execution, and delivery of projects and strategic initiatives under the leadership of ACI's Enterprise Risk Management and Compliance team. Leads cross-functional teams to meet strategic project objectives, aligned with ACI's risk and compliance policies and related directives. Collaborates and leads cross-functional teams, engages key stakeholders, business leaders, and key third parties to ensure project objectives are met on time and within budget.

Essential Functions & Responsibilities

  • Takes a leadership role in managing one or more complex projects critical to the success of ACI; partners with key stakeholders to create a path forward for the team.
  • Documents, communicates and aligns key stakeholders to project objectives; manages project scope to ensure what is being delivered is consistent with established objectives and project charter.
  • Develops integrated schedule that is inclusive of all project milestones, resources and constraints to ensure timely completion of project to achieve compliance and minimize risk.
  • Maintains well organized project materials and governance records. Monitors commitments and key deliverables; ensures key project commitments are met.
  • Manages project issues and risks (technical and non-technical) through identification, evaluation, tracking, communication, escalating and mediation in an orderly manner and in accordance with ACI project management methodology. Develops and implements a governance structure to successfully manage the aforementioned items.
  • Leads cross-functional and matrixed teams to achieve project objectives; partners with business unit colleagues, including project resources and key stakeholders cross-functionally and with third parties where applicable to build strong teams that can work through project challenges.
  • Produces risk committee materials and provides key risk inputs to Board committee materials; develops/supports the development of executive and board reporting.
  • Creates or supports the creation and submission of external reports to regulators and/or industry bodies, where applicable.
  • Communicates effectively across all levels of the organization to drive progress and keep leadership and all project stakeholders informed of project updates and status through dashboard and risk register, etc.
  • Facilitates successful negotiations such as resource needs/constraints as appropriate throughout the project. Ensures consensus and agreement across any relevant external entities / parties (including regulatory bodies) and/or internal partners and project managers.
  • Collaborates with peers to share lessons learned across multiple projects and portfolios and harvest best practices across the organization.
  • Ability to synthesize strategic solutions, broad problems and implement suitable strategies to meet project delivery objectives.
  • Optimize execution with a comprehensive and tailored approach that integrates best practices while adapting to the specific dynamics of multiple fast moving technology teams.
  • Formulates, organizes, and monitors inter-connected projects and manage deadlines, budget and other activities.
  • Partners and builds trust with key business partners; is a respected and sought-after resource.
  • Is intellectually curious; learns the business. Provides insight as well as information.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
  • Understand and adhere to all corporate policies to include but not limited to the ACI Code of Business Conduct.

Qualifications (Education, Experience, Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities)

  • Bachelor's degree or commensurate experience.
  • 10+ years of experience in managing complex functions, project, and/or program management.
  • Risk, Compliance, and Controls experience.
  • Experience reporting risk within a global enterprise, developing a culture of risk-informed decision making.

Preferred Qualifications (Education, Experience, Competencies)

  • Experience in Financial services, technology, payments, or related field strongly preferred.
  • Post-graduate degree (MBA) or similar preferred.
  • Project Management Professional (PMP) training or similar certification preferred.

  • Ability to set strategy but focus on tactical and detail for execution.
  • Ability to continually assess options to utilize data and automation to improve controls, monitoring and assessments.
  • Sharp decision-making skills and an ability to prioritize and execute on multiple activities.
  • Effective critical thinking and problem-solving skills required; project management, process improvement, and operational analysis experience preferred.
  • Ability to both exercise judgment and request assistance as appropriate.
  • Proven ability to build strong working relationships; gathers evidence and considers multiple viewpoints when making decisions.
  • Self-directed; process focused.

  • Preferred Certifications: Project Management Professional (PMP) or similar
