Senior Center Program Manager (Project Management)



POSITION TITLE: Senior Center Program Manager
CLASSIFICATION: ExemptDEPARTMENT: Health and Human Services SUPERVISOR: Health and Human Services DirectorGRADE: E2

Position Summary:Under supervision, oversees the operation of the Senior Services to include the Senior Center. This position is directly responsible for creating and directing program which address the medical and psychosocial and food needs of the Senior Service participants. The Senior Services Program Manager is responsible for ensuring participants and their family/caregivers have a safe, positive, and secure environment which will address the daily living and medical needs and the nutritional needs of participants while helping to maintain the dignity of each participant enrolled in the Senior Services program, while including participants in daily activities at the Senior Center. This list of duties and responsibilities is illustrative only of tasks performed by this position and is not all inclusive. Essential Duties & Responsibilities:• Oversees the Senior Center and supervises the Senior Center staff.• Develops calendar of activities and meals with Senior Center staff. • Ensures that USDA approved meals are served.• Ensures compliance with applicable environmental health and safety rules and regulations.• Posts information for elderly participants.• Coordinates purchases of groceries and other supplies as needed.• Works with budgets for grants and tribal funds• Prepares purchase requisitions, submits receipts, itemized listings and required reports• Reviews, answers correspondence, and prepares timesheets for Senior Center staff• Plans and schedules staff training and license renewals.• Assures mileage logs and maintenance logs are maintained for vehicles• Maintains data for number of meals served• Attends ongoing training and in-service training dates. • Maintains department standards of strict confidentiality on all matters.• Meets periodically with the Senior Center Organization as needed.• Performs other duties as directed.Knowledge, Abilities, Skills and Certifications:• Knowledge of Santa Ana Pueblo traditions, language, history and culture.• Knowledge and adherence to all pertinent tribal, federal, and state laws.• Knowledge of department organization, functions, objectives, policies and procedures.• Knowledge of the proper care, cleaning, and use of institutional food preparation equipment.• Knowledge of the proper food handling in an institutional environment.• Knowledge of menu planning following daily nutritional guidelines.• Knowledge of maintaining sufficient food supplies.
• Knowledge of business practices, procedures and office management• Skill in operating various word-processing, spreadsheets, and database software programs in a Windows environment.• Ability to interact and maintain good working relationships with individuals of varying social and cultural backgrounds.• Ability to demonstrate moral character, honesty, tact, fairness, lack of prejudice, and desire to help when dealing with people.• Ability to exercise independent judgment.• Ability to communicate efficiently and effectively both verbally and in writing.
Minimum Qualifications:Bachelor's degree in gerontology or closely related field, plus 6 years-experience with at least 3 years being in a supervisory/management capacity or equivalent amount of education and experience. Food service experience is preferred. Ability to speak the Keres Language preferred. Must have a positive attitude and be able to work independently. Must be in good health and free of communicable diseases. Must be willing to submit to health screenings, such as TB testing. Must successfully pass a pre-employment drug/alcohol screen and background investigation including a motor vehicle check. Must possess a valid New Mexico driver's license and be insurable under the Pueblo's insurance.
Physical Demands:While performing the duties of this job, the employee regularly is required to sit; use hands to finger, handle, or feel; reach with hands and arms; and talk or hear. The employee is frequently required to walk and to stand, stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl. The employee must occasionally lift and/or move and transfer 50 pounds or more. Work Environment:Work is generally performed in a Senior Center setting with a moderate noise level. Situations where extreme caution must be exercised occur in the daily activities of this job.
