Arcadis is currently seeking a Water Engineering Intern to join our Akron, OH office.
Working within our Design & Engineering teams, you'll create some of the world's most iconic and ground-breaking structures and spaces that transform the world around us, from making journeys easier to opening public places that bring people together.
The role sits within our global business area Resilience and will offer the opportunity to collaborate with our experienced water professionals, you will support and drive the development of projects, interact, and work with clients, and develop your technical capabilities.
Accountabilities:
As a Water intern you will get exposure to a variety of engineering and scientific fields most closely related to civil and electrical engineering, and geology/environmental science. You will interface with professionals on a daily and continuing basis through shadowing, joint meeting attendance and one on one tutorials. You may have opportunities to perform minor product and design research tasks as well as data collection and management tasks. Work will be performed in both office and field settings. You will receive a similar level of initial training as full-time, long-term employees. You will be asked to present on your tasks and findings in at the end of the internship in a formal presentation.
Typical Tasks and Time Distribution:
- Attend meetings in support of design professional and specific projects, learn aspects of projects and technical work, and help document project status - 40%
- Shadow/observe tasks by others in field or office - 25%
- Perform project specific research - 20%
- Perform data collection and management - 10%
- Develop/deliver presentation to manager - 5%
Qualifications & Experience:
Preferred Qualifications
- Currently enrolled in a program seeking a degree in Civil or Environmental Engineering
- Previous internship or co-op experience involving similar civil engineering work
- Involvement in professional engineering club(s) or other engineering related extra curricular activities

We offer nine paid holidays and 15 days PTO that accrue per year. The salary range for this position is $17.00 - $30.00 / hour. Actual salaries will vary and are based on several factors, such as experience, education, budget, internal equity, project and location.
