Multimedia Journalist/Weather Forecaster, KSBY (Media)
Now is your chance to live and work just minutes from the beach. E.W. Scripps' owned KSBY, the dominant news outlet on California's beautiful Central Coast, is looking for a Multimedia Journalist to cover news stories during the week and provide community Weather Forecasts on the weekend.
WHAT YOU'LL DO:
Pitch and develop news stories for broadcast, website, and social media platforms
Gather and verify factual information through interviews, observation and research
Create, cultivate, and maintain valuable sources in the community
Shoot, write, and edit video for newscasts, programs, and online platforms
Record video, conduct interviews, and build graphics to enhance storytelling
Write engaging stories that adhere to proper editorial style and AP format
Deliver live reports from the field or appear on camera for taped segments
Front local and national stories for the weekend newscasts
Provide weekend weather segments for two stations, including KSBY
Use weather data and graphics to build and present forecasts for newscasts
Write and post local weather stories to the station's digital sites
WHAT YOU'LL NEED:
Bachelor's degree in broadcast journalism or related degree or equivalent years of experience
Minimum of two years of experience preferred
WHAT YOU'LL BRING:
Computer literacy in weather and news computer systems
Videography and non-linear editing experience preferred
A strong understanding of how a powerful digital presence is critical to an organization's success
Knowledge of broadcast-quality camera equipment
Experience editing video on Final Cut Pro, Premiere Pro, or similar system
Proficiency at posting content to various digital sites
Self-motivation and ability to work in a fast-paced deadline-driven environment
Ability to lift up to 50 pounds
Valid driver's license, good driving record, and ability to provide proof of insurance with the company required insurance limits

COMPENSATION RANGE:
Hourly: $26.44 - $28.84
