Process Engineer (Finance)

Ashland has an exciting opportunity for a Process Engineer to join our Ashland Specialty Ingredients G.P. business at our Hopewell, VA, manufacturing facility. This is a visible, significant role within the Company and the Engineering function. This position will report to the Engineering Manager

The responsibilities of the position include, but are not limited to, the following:

  • Develop and lead initiatives associated with tracking and reporting utility and energy greenhouse gas emissions (GHG), optimizing energy performance and usage, and setting cost savings goals for the site.
  • Lead facility audits to identify energy conservation management. This includes field verification to identify and document Potential energy conservation measures (ECMs), the facility's Operational and usage characteristics, and low-cost/no-cost behavior-based opportunities.
  • Develop models and tools to track utility usage and associated materials across individual units.
  • Recommend energy-efficient design solutions and technology upgrades supported by accurate descriptions, measured and logged energy data, savings calculations, and cost estimates.
  • Ability to provide technical leadership and project management to develop and implement integrated energy efficiency programs.
  • A general knowledge of the financial, technical, and political aspects driving the energy industries
  • Support manufacturing processes as needed.

In order to be qualified for this role, you must possess the following:

  • Bachelor's degree in engineering or equivalent discipline with 5+ years of experience in a utility or energy improvement role.
  • Experience in a plant manufacturing environment (chemical preferred).
  • Passion in the areas of energy efficiency, alternative energy, and sustainability
  • Engineering, analytical, and technical writing skills, including spreadsheet analyses
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills
  • Must be well organized and a self-starter with the ability to work with minimal supervision.
  • Must be flexible and able to adjust to rapid changes in work priorities and prioritize work according to those changes.

The following skill sets are preferred by the business unit:

  • 8+ years of experience in a utility or energy improvement role at a multi-unit manufacturing facility.
  • Experience implementing energy conservation and performance contracts.
  • CEM certification

Must be authorized to work in the US.
