Director Physical Security (Finance)



Overview

We are seeking a full-time Director of Physical Security in our Olathe, KS location. In this role, you will be responsible for leading the physical security teams and programs, including the ongoing identification and management of physical security and safety-related risks as well as providing oversight and thought leadership regarding Garmin's global physical security strategy and policies. Very specially looking for someone with a mix of corporate security and law/government/military background

Essential Functions

  • Develops, implements, and executes related to Garmin's Physical Security policies, strategies, and management systems
  • Provides oversight on advanced matters of physical security
  • Directs implementation of corrective actions and resolutions to program and management system deficiencies
  • Directs periodic risk assessments to ensure that legal, regulatory, and audit requirements are met
  • Participates in or leads Threat Analysis related to Physical Security Risks
  • Operationalizes risk intelligence within the domain to ensure the right risks are being prioritized and managed
  • Interacts with stakeholders to understand risks by defining potential business impact, with the responsibility to apply effective mitigation strategies
  • Plans/executes an enterprise-wide governance system to align key priorities of physical security
  • Develops physical security strategies/plans that are aligned with stakeholders, including the executive team, staff, partners, and customers
  • Directs teams and communicates effectively with executive leadership and stakeholders regarding threats, incident response, and physical safety concerns
  • Promotes/oversees strategic physical security relationships between internal resources and external entities, including government, vendors, and partner organizations
  • Specifies security requirements for and audits proper administration of physical security systems and their corresponding equipment or software, ensuring that facilities, premises, and equipment adhere to all applicable policies, laws, and regulations
  • Develops, tracks, and controls physical security services' annual operating and capital budgets for purchasing, staffing, and operations falling within designated areas of responsibility
  • Leads compliance measurement and maintenance of policies for Physical Security
  • Designs, operates, and reports on applicable aspects of relevant industry frameworks (e.g.: NIST, ISO, etc.), including the development of governance templates, standards, guidelines, and tracking of key performance indicators
  • Coordinates/supports physical security assessments to evaluate policy compliance and existing defenses and to identify vulnerabilities
  • Advises management on industry developments in business practice, technology, security issues, and legislation that impact Garmin's policies for physical security
  • Provides assistance to Human Resources and/or Legal Department as needed with sensitive and confidential projects
  • Builds/maintains high performing team(s) by recruiting, developing, and retaining outstanding talent
  • Promotes team member engagement/effectiveness by providing constructive feedback and promoting personal development, including writing and conducting annual performance appraisals
  • Develops/manages team and individual performance/capacity metrics to identify successful operations or areas where improvement is needed, while also working to ensure that all organizational objectives are met
  • Demonstrates ongoing personal development, professional growth, and continuous education
  • Accepts, develops, and executes projects and other miscellaneous IT & Security duties as assigned
Basic Qualifications
  • Bachelor's Degree in Law Enforcement, Criminal Justice, or related field AND a minimum of 15 years of previous experience of a required mix of law enforcement/military/government AND Corporate security experience
  • Must possess demonstrated experience and in-depth comprehensive knowledge in crisis management, security, investigation, loss prevention, life safety, risk management, and general safety awareness
  • Prior experience working with Corporate Human Resources and/or Legal Departments
  • Must possess experience as a liaison with outside agencies (fire, police, FBI, etc)
  • Must possess experience with global posture and strategy for a large organization
  • Demonstrated leadership experience with the ability to effectively coach and mentor others
  • Demonstrated strong and effective verbal, written, and interpersonal communication skills with demonstrated presentation skills (both creating and delivering)
  • Must demonstrate excellent problem-solving and project management with a high level of interpersonal skills to work proactively across functional and organizational lines
  • Must be positive, team/detail oriented, and possess the ability to prioritize, organize, and multi-task in a flexible, fast-paced, and challenging environment to meet deadlines with minimal supervision effectively
  • Demonstrates advanced proficiency and knowledge of current Microsoft Office software, including Word, Excel, and PowerPoint
  • Must demonstrate the ability to deal with confidential company matters
  • Ability to travel as needed
Desired Qualifications
  • Graduate degree in Public Administration, Law Enforcement, Criminal Justice, or a related field
  • Relevant certifications in Physical Security (ex. CPP,CSP,CBCP)
