Shuttle Driver (Finance)



The shuttle driver will be responsible for student pick-up and drop-off on a fixed route during the academic year. The driver must prioritize transportation safety for all riders during shuttle transports and provide good customer service to riders. Driver maintains accurate ridership logs, and daily vehicle inspections of a university vehicle.

Working Environment

  • Some indoor preparation and outdoor vehicle inspections. The Driver will spend majority of their shift inside a university vehicle.
  • Noise level is quiet to moderate.

Physical Activities
  • Ability to lift 40 pounds.
  • Ability to sit for prolonged periods of time.

Work Schedule

The University shuttle operates Tuesday - Friday when classes are in session, Work schedule may vary.

The working hours for this position is 16-29 hours a week on Temporary Part-Time status.

  • High school diploma or GED
  • Possess a valid driver's license with a clean driving record
  • Understand Florida traffic laws and safety procedures
  • 1 year of prior driving experience transporting passengers
  • Ability to communicate effectively with students and staff
  • Availability to work a flexible schedule

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience transporting passengers, particularly students.
  • Basic Understanding of vehicle maintenance.

  • Inspecting shuttle van for any unsafe issues preparing for shift.
  • Responsible for transporting students from the main campus to off-site class location and from off-site class location back to main campus.
  • Compliance with traffic and safety regulations to operate vehicles in a safe and professional manner.
  • Driving shuttle on a fixed route on time.
  • Completing ridership logs by counting riders onboard for all student transports.
  • Other duties related to driving such as service transports, refueling and cleaning of shuttle vans.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
  • Be dependable and provide good customer service.
  • Ability to speak, read, write the English language and add, subtract basic math.
  • Ability to understand and communicate information with students and staff back to the Parking and Transportation manager.
  • Ability to redirect the route due to weather, or general driving conditions.
