Job Description:
• \tPlans, directs and coordinates the operational activities of a fast-paced, multi-faceted analytical laboratory with method development/validation projects and routine SOP/compendia driven analyses.
• \tHas personnel, quality and performance responsibility for department with annual sales over $3 million.
• \tMaintains qualified staff by recruiting, selecting, training, and mentoring Associates.
• \tConfirms quality systems are applied in the performance and documentation of laboratory studies.
• \tMeets client's expectations for timeliness of laboratory studies as measured by on-time percentage.
• \tAccomplishes financial objectives by forecasting requirements/capacity, provides annual capital estimates and expense budgets, scheduling expenditures, analyzing variances, and initiating corrective actions if necessary.
• \tEstablishes department goals by gathering pertinent business, financial, service, and operations information, identifying and evaluating trends and options, choosing a course of action, defining objectives and evaluating outcomes.
• \tKeeps abreast of new analytical technologies and applies these technologies to the laboratory as necessary.
• \tWorks directly with the Director of Analytical Services to determine long-term goals and projections of Analytical Services.
• \tAssists in ensuring client expectations are met including the schedule, cost and quality of our services.
• \tIdentifies opportunities to bring in new projects/clients, participates in meetings with prospective clients, and provides scope of project and relevant information to support the creation and review of proposals.
Qualifications & Technical Competencies:
• Requires a Bachelor's degree in Chemistry or Chemistry related discipline (Masters or PhD preferred).
• Requires 8-10 years of related work experience including 5 years supervisory experience.
• Fluency in English and local language, if different, required.
• Serves as a technical resource for laboratory personnel to aid in data interpretation and troubleshooting as needed.
Working Conditions:
• Physical activities include walking, sitting and standing for prolonged periods and operating laboratory equipment.
• Extensive use of computer keyboard and mouse.
