Dispatch Manager - Salt Lake City, UT (Finance)

Position Overview

The Dispatch Manager plays a critical leadership role within Jack B. Parson Ready Mix, responsible for overseeing daily dispatch operations and ensuring the safe, efficient, and timely scheduling of concrete deliveries for all 19 Jack B. Parson Ready Mix locations across northern Utah and southern Idaho. This position manages all dispatch functions including leading the teams responsible for coordinating driver callouts and delivery schedules, and serving as a key operational link between field execution and strategic planning.

Working closely with Sales, Operations, Safety, Equipment, and Quality Control (QC) teams, the Dispatch Manager helps align logistics and resource planning with broader business objectives. The role also includes direct customer engagement for large placements and project coordination, oversight of the Beck Street facility, and support for fleet telematics across Jack B. Parson and much of the West Division.

Key Responsibilities

Senior Leadership & Cross-Functional Collaboration

  • Serve as a member of the senior management team, contributing to operational planning, performance improvement, and strategic execution.
  • Collaborate with Sales, Operations, Safety, Equipment, and QC teams to ensure dispatch planning aligns with production schedules, equipment availability, safety compliance, and quality standards.
  • Provide input into company direction and priorities, performance metrics, and resourcing decisions.

Dispatch & Transportation Coordination

  • Lead daily dispatch planning and manage the team responsible for scheduling driver callouts and deliveries.
  • Maintain and adjust the master dispatch schedule to meet customer demand, plant capacity, and field readiness.
  • Ensure full compliance with DOT regulations and internal safety protocols.
  • Utilize the Transportation Management System (TMS) for efficient load planning, routing, and dispatch execution.
  • Monitor and manage transportation-related costs and fuel surcharges, identifying opportunities for process and cost improvements.
  • Investigate and resolve ticketing or billing discrepancies in collaboration with the Accounting team.

Customer & Sales Collaboration

  • Serve as a point of contact for key accounts and major project stakeholders.
  • Participate in pre-pour planning meetings for large or complex placements to coordinate resources and delivery timing.
  • Support Sales by aligning dispatch capabilities with customer schedules and expectations.
  • Provide responsive communication and proactive problem-solving for customer service issues.

Beck Street Facility Oversight

  • Oversee daily operations, maintenance coordination, and safety compliance at the Beck Street facility.
  • Serve as the facility's primary point of contact for inspections, repairs, and operational readiness.
  • Coordinate with the Equipment and Maintenance teams to ensure safe and efficient facility performance.

Fleet Telematics Support

  • Support the deployment, monitoring, and use of telematics systems (e.g., TrackIt, Motive) across the Jack B. Parson fleet and West Division.
  • Collaborate with Safety, Equipment, and Dispatch teams to use telematics data to monitor fleet utilization, driver behavior, and delivery performance.

Qualifications

  • Minimum 5+ years of experience in dispatch, logistics, or transportation operations, with management or supervisory experience required.
  • Working knowledge of Command Concrete, TrackIt, Motive, and ready mix plant operations is required.
  • Strong understanding of DOT regulations, compliance, and transportation safety standards.
  • Proven ability to lead teams, manage complex scheduling environments, and collaborate across multiple departments.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Excel, Outlook, Word); experience with dispatch or ticketing systems required.
  • Excellent communication and customer service skills, with experience working directly with customers or sales teams in a service-driven or construction environment.

Physical Requirements

  • Ability to sit, stand, walk, bend, kneel, and lift up to 50 lbs as needed.
  • Able to work in both office and industrial plant environments.

Work Environment

  • Combination of office, batch plant, and outdoor environments.
  • Exposure to moderate to high noise levels, moving equipment, and varying weather conditions.
