Short Description

What is the Role?
As a Region Lubricants Pricing Manager, you will be a member of a select team engaged in implementing a pricing strategy to balance growth and margin in a dynamic market across 2400+ SKUs in a wide range of automotive and industrial lubricants for varied applications and industries. As conditions arise, the pricing team implements mass price changes across retail, national, distributor, and direct customers. The region pricing manager evaluates and negotiates specific products/customer pricing proposals from Lubricant's sales team. The pricing team is continuously engaged in all facets of daily administration and problem resolution. Pricing experience is a must, with strong analytical / systems skills and the ability to work with a sales team with a diverse product mix. Lubricant's pricing experience is preferred. SAP, Power BI, and PROs are utilized software packages.

Job Summary

Establish pricing in accordance with business unit's goals and objectives, compliant with legal, competitive, strategic, and financial factors. Pricing includes list prices, customer specific prices and various discounts requested by sales personnel or because of the introduction of new programs and products or in response to RFQ's. Maintains sound understanding of pricing within industry segments and makes pricing strategy recommendations based on industry, competition, and product positioning.

Minimum Qualifications

  • Prefer: High Level expertise in SAP, Power BI, Excel and BI/BW
  • The minimum number of years of job related experience required by this job is: 5 years with a college degree OR 10 years of experience without a college degree.

Job Duties

1. Evaluate and authorize base pricing associated with proposals submitted by assigned sales team members ensuring that proposed pricing is consistent with strategic product line positioning, compliant with applicable laws and regulations, relevant and justified as to legitimate competitive offers and financially beneficial. This activity requires analysis and translation of proposed terms and conditions into their economic impact, assessment of impact on existing business within the subject account and to other similar accounts, development of profitability analyses considering current product costs, anticipated changes in product costs and all other going to market costs. Continuous communication and collaboration with sales team members in the development of proposals is also required to ensure agreement and understanding of the methods and time frames by which pricing is to be implemented. Manage formula pricing analysis, timely notification and implementation working with Pricing Managers and Sales Account Managers in accordance with Lubes policies and procedures. Work with PROS Consultant and PROS IT resources to automate formula pricing.

2. Establish list pricing in connection with the introduction of new products and because of competitive realignment of existing list prices. These activities require research and analysis of relevant competitive offers, economic evaluations, development of appropriate differentials and system (PROS) implementation in all required pricing groups. Prepare and implement general price changes across all assigned customers ensuring accuracy and system (PROS) implementation timeliness. This activity also requires monitoring of order activity to ensure compliance with price change conditions. Maintains sound understanding of pricing within industry segments and makes pricing strategy recommendations based on industry, competition, and product positioning. Manage and maintain pricing guidance in PROS utilizing competitive pricing data for effective price benchmarking.

3. Evaluate and authorize the implementation of short- and long-term discounts in the form of rebates and off-invoice line items considering the economic impact, the probability of generating incremental business or the risk of losing business and the potential for disruptions among various classes of trade and specific customers. This activity requires the determination of the optimal SAP or other systems implementation and the ultimate review of rebate-type promotions. Support the Lubes Business unit with accrual set-up for various marketing programs, discounts, allowances, and broker commissions.

4. Provide continuous support to Customer Experience department to resolve any price related issues and to ensure consistency of PO prices with established prices. This activity requires the determination of root causes of price related issues in an order and the formulation and implementation of corrective actions. Corrective actions may include changes to pricing in the system (PROS), interpretation and changes in EDI feeds, and communications with Sales to resolve PO inconsistencies. Resolve price related issues associated with disputed invoices which requires validation of customer claims through research of internal information and consultation with Sales and Credit personnel resulting in either agreement with the claim and subsequent corrective actions or denial of the claim. Engage in special projects with a cross section of business unit and external personnel as assigned.

5. Lead, design and develop short and long-term data driven pricing strategies for Lubes Business Unit by leveraging available technologies (Power Pivot/Power BI). Provides support for MTP (medium term plan) and Budget strategies for Lubes Business Unit. Manage the process, tools, consistency, and accuracy of economic analysis for Lubricants business cases. Implement economic analysis process improvement, training and automation incorporating accurate data transfer to and from SAP, LIS, PROS, Salesforce to support financial and strategic objectives. Executes the conversion of complex business data and findings into tables, graphs, and reports to lead the strategic decision making by Lubes Business Unit Management.
