Summary

The Federal Reserve Board (Board) provides students opportunities for career success. The Board's Internship program is designed to provide valuable work experience for undergraduate and graduate students considering careers including, but not limited to, economics, finance and accounting, information systems, and data analysis. The Board believes that by combining academic endeavors with project-related work experience, qualified and capable college students can gain the practical knowledge need in a competitive global job market. Internships are paid positions with salaries commensurate with credit hours; internships may be in-person, remote or hybrid, depending on the needs of the team. Employment in the Board's internship program is granted to U.S. citizens. Applicants must be currently enrolled in an undergraduate or graduate degree program at an accredited university and returning to continue studies after the internship. Interns receive a syllabus or research project plan outlining their projects and goals for the internship. Interns are assigned a supervisor or mentor to guide them through their internship, and regular check-in meetings with their manager to manage performance expectations and assist with learning goals. Interns have access to a wide range of training programs and events for professional development purposes.About the Team

The Financial Planning and Procurement (FP&P) section collaboratively oversees Supervision's financial management processes, including budgeting, procurement, resource management, and oversight of delegated Reserve Bank Supervision financial management activities. We support Supervision strategy and our stakeholders through transparent, high-integrity financial data, high-quality reporting, and high-impact analysis that communicates Supervision's financial narrative and informs sound decision-making.

About the Role

The FP&P Summer Intern will help the team evolve and enhance its day-to-day processes through projects (in priority order) such as:

  • Documenting key processes and building out an internal knowledge center to reduce "key man" risk and dependency in support of team-wide training
  • Helping the team to build out a "System Information Center" that centralizes existing guidance and direction on a common platform
  • Reviewing existing reporting and identifying opportunities for improvement, enhancements, or expansion
  • Exploring AI tools and use cases for the FP&P team

  • Suggested Education: Rising college junior or senior pursuing a degree in business, data analytics, statistics, or another related field of study

    Required Skills/Experience

    • Excellent writing skills
    • Demonstrated understanding of knowledge management best practices and tools
    • Strong data analytics capabilities, including working knowledge of Tableau
    • Basic understanding of financial reporting, financial analysis, and/or accounting
    • Demonstrated ability to grasp concepts quickly, manage multiple projects simultaneously, and collaborate effectively

    Notes
    • US Citizenship is required. Applicants must be current students, graduating from their program Fall 2026 or later.
    • This internship must be completed in-person in Washington, DC.
