  • Bachelors degree from an accredited institution in business or engineering
  • Four year college degree or five years' experience in a planning function

Born from many well-known and long-standing brands, Howmet Fastening Systems, headquartered in Torrance, California, is the premier designer and manufacturer of aerospace and industrial fasteners, latches, fluid fittings and installation tools. Our products are used nose to tail on commercial and military aircraft, as well as on jet engines, industrial gas turbines, automobiles, commercial transportation vehicles, wind turbines, solar power systems, and construction and industrial equipment.

Howmet Fastening Systems (HFS) is seeking a Senior Production Planner in our Carson, CA location.

Specific Responsibilities:

  • Develop and maintain ongoing production plans that result in the product supply meeting customer demand.
  • Coordinate all raw material replenishments, monitor and manage capacity requirements and work closely with sales and marketing to develop a plan that best services our customers. Direct planners in the scheduling/planning of production to meet customer quality and on-time delivery needs.
  • Interface with other departments (Shipping, Processing, Engineering, Quality) to resolve problems with timely delivery or disposition of rejection notices.
  • Develops, communicates and monitors performance to the unit production goals to provide the basis for key operational decisions. Monitors stocking performance of inventory items to ensure optimum service levels for both.
  • Set priorities at shop floor to ensure department goals are met
  • Develop and analyze anticipated business forecast (i.e. revenue, net production, inventories)
  • Periodic review of customer demand (this should go with whatever level creates the plan)
  • Monitor forecasts for accuracy
  • Monthly meeting with Operations Managers to update ACPT Lead-time system
  • Monthly Review Backlog vs Available Materials/Components/Finished goods and develop a standardized Production Plan
  • Participate in production meeting with shop floor personnel
  • Responsible for assuring that the promised dates booked to the customer are attained
  • Provides customer service with accurate estimations of booked capacity to allow accurate quoting of customer lead-times
  • Responsible for maintaining planning parameters of material.
  • Reconciles confliction objectives in the Master Planner Systems in order to ensure customer service, acceptable inventory levels, and maximizes production efficiency.
  • Assist Sales Department in developing Customer Order Promising to support achievement of sales objectives.
  • Provide input to management, Production and Engineering to reschedule in case of design changes, labor and material shortages, backlogs and other potential schedule interruptions

Experience and Background:
  • Facilitate continual improvement. Take initiative to resolve planning issues without supervision's direction. Willingly participate with production teams to resolve production and planning issues.
  • Perform other tasks as needed in support of manufacturing operations, customers and suppliers.
  • Knowledge of production planning, inventory management, JIT concepts and MRP also required
  • Expert in Excel
  • Must be capable of running Master level plans from QAD
  • Well developed communication skills are utilized to interact with all levels inside and outside the facility.
