Role Purpose:

Supervise and lead employees in the operation of the production line. Develop procedures for efficient and safe operations. Understand and implement improvements to the manufacturing/production process.

Responsibilities:

  • Promote and ensure Health, Safety & Environment (HSE) standards and policies are followed, ensuring teammate safety.
  • Ensure customer quality standards are adhered to and related issues are responded to in a timely manner.
  • Meet daily production demands while maintaining quality and safety standards.
  • Effectively manage workforce including training, coaching, scheduling and corrective actions when necessary.
  • Monitor and respond to day-to-day product and process concerns and ensure just in time delivery.
  • Work closely with other departments in problem solving issues.
  • Ensure compliance to the Collective Bargaining Agreement as well as plant rules and corporate policies/practices.
  • Responsible for decision-making and problem solving of any technical or scheduling issues arising during the shift.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in related field preferred.
  • Three to five years supervisory or lead experience in a manufacturing environment.
  • Experience with time studies, workload/line balance or mechanical background a plus.
  • Able to lead small continuous improvement teams towards KPI goals.
  • Solid understanding of automotive/manufacturing quality requirements.
  • Basic computer knowledge required.
  • Strong people skills including communication (oral and written) and organizational skills
  • Knowledge of HSE, working in an unionized environment, and manpower planning.
  • Able to work weekends and off-shifts as necessary.
  • Knowledge of Lean Manufacturing, Continuous Improvement, 5S, and Kaizen
