Overview

Location: Houston, TX

Compensation: depending on experience

The Terminal Operator is required to follow regulatory compliance and ensure efficient operations of the terminal. Regulatory compliance refers, but not limited, to safety-OSHA regulations; Environmental-EPA and state regulations; Quality-ASTM standards.
The primary objective of the Terminal Operator is to safely and accurately unload, load and transfer bulk cementitious products using the plant systems and assist other terminal staff in the maintenance of these systems. The Terminal Operator is required to have practical skills for safely operating mobile and stationary equipment used in the material handling operations.

Roles & Responsibilities

  • Be a safety conscious employee & promote safety through actions.
  • Comply with all company policies and applicable local, state and federal laws and regulations.
  • Ensure company quality assurance policy is fully implemented-take samples and send for analysis.
  • Coordinate the receipt, storage, handling, and shipment of all products.
  • Work on a team when vessels are in port for offloading for 12hr shifts until the vessel is fully offloaded.
  • Maintain terminal property and equipment.
  • Ensure mobile and stationary equipment inspection programs are fully implemented and followed.
  • Ensure that all data for inventories, products received and shipped are accurate.
  • Coordinate with truck receiving/dispatch personnel as needed.
  • Pursue an objective of "zero" injuries or incidents. Engage with other personnel and contractors to reinforce safe behaviors.
  • Responsible for ensuring compliance with environmental policy. If there is an issue your authority will be to correct the issue and communicate to the Terminal Management with steps taken to resolve the issue, depending on the severity.
  • Assist with terminal maintenance and preventive maintenance to ensure minimal breakdowns and assist with breakdown repairs as they occur. Communicate any issues with Terminal Management.
  • Work extended hours if needed with other terminal staff to meet operational demand. Communicate with Sales personnel and Terminal Manager regarding supply issues or concerns in a timely manner.
  • Responsible for ensuring the quality policy is followed. If quality issues arise, immediately communicate with Terminal Management or Sales personnel.
  • Promote the company's name/brand and ensure good community stewardship.

 
Skills and Abilities:

  • Good written and oral communication skills.
  • Good knowledge of products, including uses and limitations.
  • Ability to effectively interface with diverse groups (customers, sales, regional staff, truckers, etc.).
  • Ability to work with and effectively manage people.
  • Must have mechanical aptitude to operate and maintain various types of equipment.
  • Must be familiar with local, state, and federal regulations.
  • Disciplined self starter.
