Director, Sales Learning & development (Finance)



The Director, Sales Learning and Development is responsible for assessing, developing, and delivering a world class training program for the Workforce Solutions (WS) Sales organization, playing a key role in shaping the future of the WS Sales organization. The role requires a highly motivated, energetic leader that will strategize, build and execute a holistic training & development solution program for all WS Sales and Sales Support roles in alignment with the WS strategy playbook. This role will help identify the sales skills to deliver against the strategy playbook and will help create and execute engaging and effective learning programs to close the skills gap.

A critical part of this process will be consulting with sales leaders to diagnose performance issues and learning needs, identifying appropriate training-based solutions, and developing learning frameworks to facilitate achievement of the business unit's goals. Where necessary, this role may also assist in defining and engaging vendors and building strategic partnerships. This role will also establish project plans, conduct cost/benefit analyses for any recommendations made to business units. The incumbent collaborates with leadership to ensure consistent implementation and adherence to the core purpose, core values and future position within the marketplace.

What you will do:

  • Drive the strategy to create and operationalize a world-class sales development program to develop best of breed sellers, customer success, and sales support teams at WS. This will be done in close consultation with the senior leadership team and the sales community of practice to ensure continued alignment.
  • Lead sales enablement and on-boarding efforts across WS to establish a sales force training plan focused on developing, implementing and reinforcing critical sales competencies by role.
  • Help determine and implement the strategy and sales methodology for blended curricula on sales methodology, product positioning, sales strategies, tools, sales plays and plans that deliver sales results.
  • Measure and manage required investment ensuring effective ROI, as well as appropriate spend per metrics.
  • Help develop & curate effective performance benchmarks; regularly assess and ensure ongoing alignment and iteration based on metrics.
  • Oversee prioritization of training objectives/efforts for sales, sales management, and sales support roles.
  • Consult with L&OD peers and executive management to design and execute delivery of learning, ensuring new hire onboarding coincides with sales training initiatives.
  • Stay connected to the competitive landscape, including trends & Best Practices in Sales training, development and learning as an engagement and retention tool.
  • Drive the adoption of WS enablement tools, processes and ways of working. Evaluate current tools and make recommendations based on current and future needs.
  • Develop and maintain peer relationships across the business & COEs to facilitate effective knowledge sharing and avoid duplication of effort. Collaborate closely with the other large domestic business unit to ensure alignment on core sales curriculum and best practices between our closely related teams
  • Serve as a trusted advisor and thought partner to HRLT, sales leaders, and other L&OD team member
  • Mentor, motivate, and develop sales leaders and sales teams - serve as a resource to them in order to facilitate their growth and professional development.

What experience you need:
  • Bachelor in Education/Training & Development. Preferred Master/Certifications Level.
  • Ability to develop a holistic view of performance problems, identify root causes, and suggest training-based solutions
  • A combination of 7-10 years+ related sales training Experience and direct experience selling
  • Ability to participate in sales call reviews (live or recordings) with sales / product to identify training opportunities to better position Equifax solutions
  • Analytical, communication, interpersonal, and influencing skills
  • Collaboration skills including the ability to integrate and act upon the diverse perspectives of business unit managers, Sales Community of Practice members, HR and other colleagues, and external vendors
  • Ability to focus on Value education and selling with consultation / solutions / value based focus
  • Consulting skills including client-facing skills aimed at determining the client's need, perceived roadblocks, business unit culture, and work environment issues
  • Ability to incorporate training delivery into our AI systems, and to adjust training based on insights from our AI systems
  • Knowledge of training and organizational development theories and practices, instructional design models, and e-learning standards (e.g. SCORM and AICC)
  • Project management skills, experience ability to facilitate organizing and managing multiple priorities and/or projects
  • Data analysis skills to measure / analyze the effectiveness (and/or adoption) of training by sales teams and ROI
  • Risk mitigation skills to help eliminate potential roadblocks in the design and delivery of training programs
  • Strong business acumen and understanding of the impact of training on overall corporate performance

What could set you apart:
  • Experience in a fast-paced, high-growth environment
  • Familiarity with and experience using learning design software like Articulate Storyline, Camtasia etc. and WorkDay LMS
  • Proven track record of building and scaling sales training programs from the ground up
  • Basic knowledge of CRMs, especially Salesforce
  • Experience with modern learning technologies like gamification, VR/AR, or AI-driven platforms
  • Direct experience in a sales leadership role
  • Experience with Richardson sales methodology
  • Experience working in a global, highly matrixed organization
